one gun in a pit or dug out consequently we had four dug outs. It was great sport we were not allowed to show any lights or make any noise, for fear of our position being spied by an imaginary enemy. We had some time finding room enough for the 13 men of our [ sub]. One of the officers slung his bunk in the dust (6" deep ) with us.

The battery had 60 rounds to get off before noon. We were called at 5 and given an egg
