her my best love. My brother, Tom, was not sent to France after all, his training had been completed & they were daily expecting to go off, but he was bundled off to Hull, at the last minute to act as interpreter, he got his promotion, but don't think he cares much about it; however, it saved my Mother a great deal of worry, she's also getting pretty old, & it would have told terribly on her, so in a way I'm pleased, & my youngest brother David is Vice Consul in Bergen, he was also to have joined up, but they packed him off there. Eleanor is thinking of joining as a Red & motor driver, I believe they are going to take some. Now I presume I must stop, have addressed this to Cedar Cres. presume right; do write me again soon.
Best love & all good wishes,
Please remember me to Mrs. Leighton.
Au revoir dear Your pal Matthew
