My Dear Miss Leighton,

I was awfully glad to have your letter which was forwarded to me here last month. I should have answered before but it is the very deuce to get a chance to write in this convalescent home where everything is mapped out for you. At present I am writing this at 5.30 A.M. in bed - wouldn't that jar you?
