that he said he was coming over here to clean up the b....y camp & so the blokes here got busy before he turned up.

The idea is to send about 14 extra officers to every battalion at the Front to take their turn with the work & to get thoroughly "au fait" with everything, so that when casualties occur there is someone to jump in who knows the whole thing.

It is rumoured that owing to rapid promotions over at the Front a lot of the new senior officers are hopelessly incompetent & that the War Office are stepping in to see that the Canadian authorities put things right. It also appears that a lot of serious blunders have been made over there. Well this great influx of officers to France almost clears this camp of officers & yours truly is one officer who is going. I'm detailed for the 2nd C.M.R. These said officers are going as supernumeraries.

This suddenly knocked the staff course on the head, after about a 6 1/2 weeks run.

They held an Exam & curiously enough this yar bloke comes out top, same as the preliminary. Got Distinction in every subject (85%) except in Engineering & in that only got 74% 11 more marks in
