R.F.C. Per Ardua ad Astra
Pontefract Aug 23, 1918
Dearest Mother:-
I suppose you have got my cable long before this for it was sent a whole week ago, and here I am just writing to you now. Anyway you know I am safe and well - and that is the main thing. It is a terribly long time since I've written you I know and I am most sorry. Since I last wrote we moved south (I think the censor will realize that what I will tell you gives no information to the wily Hun) and did a lot of hot work during the French and American offensive on the Marne.
