mighty sorry to lose him as there never was a better C.O.; but are glad for his sake that he has been promoted, as he certainly deserves it.

Jimmy Gray came over to see me the other night. The aerodrome he is on is about 3/4 of a mile from ours. He has been out here a long time now but is still going strong. I never dreamed he would be out here yet or would have gone over to see him before this. He has got his flight now, lucky beggar. I am going over to-morrow night to have dinner with him.

The other day I received a parcel from Uncle Fred and Aunt Jessie and in it was a great big cake of maple sugar! Maybe I wasn't popular with the Canadians in the Squadron! The way that stuff seemed to fade away was a marvel. Old Blanco (short for Le Blanc-Smith) declares that if they have stuff like that out there he's going to live in Canada after the war.
