Letter No. 3.

In the Field Feb. 2, 1918

Dearest Mother,

Another letter of yours has reached me and the Xmas box and books so I am feeling quite "bricked" with life at present. Thank you ever so much for all the "goodies" and "wearables". The book I have just started and am enjoying very much. I love the dry humor and true-ringing home philosophy of Hepsey. It is needless to say that the cake disappeared in two days for there are five of us in the hut and though they, too, have been getting boxes from home they all voted yours the best cake yet. It kept wonderfully and was undamaged. Though the tin-box was in three pieces
