night an 80 mile gale was blowing and the whole station, officers and all, were up most of the night, but all to little purpose for we could not keep the tents up in that wind and the result was damage to to all our machines, plus a horrible cold with a touch of bronchitis to myself. I have been in the hospital till a few days ago but am out and about again now "as large as life" and feeling perfectly fit.

I am very sorry, Mother dear, that it should have been such a long time between letters, and do hope you have not been worrying about me. Of course you recieved my cablegram on arrival; and the
