between 8 & 9 o'clock on Monday night, there had ....of fire at that time. I have no memory of actions noted as Mr Spencer Simmons deputy to the general Management of the mine, I did not on this occasion interfere with .... who was in charge of the .... While Spencer Simmons was away at that time there was no certificated Manager at the mine. I did not see the level tried to see whether there was a gap. Taken before me at Nottington this Frank Little 24th. day of April 1879
