And by opening another Curtain on no. 10 level outside of Homes heading, and also by pulling up a Curtain (no. 3.) across No. 10 level inside Home's [?] heading. When the fire was discovered my father was sent for & arrived at the Mine at about 1/2 past 3 o'Clock on the morning of Wednesday the 10th inst. I was with my father & we immediately went down the mine & into Homes heading where the fire was, then my father took the management of the mine. The pump was connected to the Hose and water pumped on the fire. the pump was got ready about 2 P.M. & previous to this a Curtain No. 3 was put across No. 10 level. No. 2. & No. 1. Curtain were lifted for the purpose of getting the full force of air up to the fire in Homes heading. We did not allow the full force of air to go on to the fire until we got the pump ready, we then lifted a Curtain No. 4 so as to prevent the air going on to the fire until the pump was ready still continuing to keep another Curtain No. 5 shut accross the head of Homes heading for the purpose of Confining the fire until we were ready with the water.
