12 noon are at destination it being very hot day & very tired and the old man has two bottles of Hudson Bay Rum awaiting him. He (the boss) asks us all to have a drink. Some of the fellows take a good stiff drink consequently some most ridiculous things occur: for instance one man lights a fire inside one of the tents for the cook. Another gets laughing fits on while some actually pitch their tents upside down. The two chain men are sent off to Comox Lake.

June 24th. We go and get the mail at Union and have a most enjoyable sail home. Letters from home and papers very nice day and enjoy our outing immensely.

June 25th. We go back to headquarters today with the mail and find all well and anxiously awaiting our return to get on farther with the line but too late to do anything today
