Elsie Gill calls after lunch, takes me to Royal Academy & Jervian war pictures - is touchingly careful of me sit down very frequently - a wonderfully good little girl. Nicholls pretty bad today. Attend part of a Tommies concert - excellent. Meet survivor of a 16th MG Section.

Given one months sick leave - 6 weeks light duty , 2 wks renewably. Pretty bad for two hours today. Capt. Turner to see Maj. Biggs re gold braid. Go to town for first time by myself on a bus - crowded returning, man insists on my taking his seat - Young tells me he and Elliott will pay my passage home. Allowed hours walk in evening.

On my own but in a hopeless daze and London too much for me. Interview Sir Richard & get letter to Gen. Carson. His interest quite perfunctory. Sister Miller on hearing "Sir" R. all enthusiasm now & phones the Maj. to arrange a new board. Get out to Young's. Walk myself out & get sleep tonight.

Bad weather - Noake's brother all afternoon - discouraged worried looking man of 40. Walk with Capt. Murphy & Maj. Kirky in evening. What a life, what a life.
