Tuesday October 19th 1915

Plotting enemy gun positions on map & contouring. Patrolling- various patrols went out in the 1st Div. - Reconnoitred enemys parapet 20 yds north of Douve crossing- climbing halfway up the parapet they found that the North brick buttress of the arch over the Douve had been hollowed out behind for a M.G. emplacement. Enemy's Activity- General attitude of the enemy unchanged. His artillery has been very active practically along the whole of our front. Right & left brigades of 1st Div were heavily shelled with both light & heavy artillery. run down to La Petite Mungue- Capt. Clark-Kennedy promises to get another letter of recommendation from Gen. Leckie. Go to Nieppe with Baxter and have dinner there
