Saturday Sept 4th General goes very fully into the matter of an outfit with me - discussing every item in the catologue. Trench 141- la plus _______ shelled again - capt Wood wounded - Count= Evans killed + three more wounded - Count was oldish chap, formerly in stationery office, ___________, Victoria - Had been Corporal but reverted to ranks in June - quite a talker + expert on psychology. New draft passes last night, singing "Tipperary"- almost the finest time we have heard it in France. Trenches in an awful state + roads liquid with mud. - Regular cloud burst during the night. Thirsty of new draft were French - Canadians, in kills too- dead drunk- probably in disguste at having to wear kills Heavy bombardment at Houge 2am
