My dear "Pa" & "Ma"
You will notice I include both of you this time so as to cause no ill feelings! I've quite lost track which of you I wrote to last, but at any rate my scrawls are always meant for both of you, so no matter! I was awfully pleased to get another of your interesting letters this week, Pa, it was dated 16th June, you've both been very good about writing lately, & I tell you I do appreciate getting letters with all the home news in them, they have a magic effect in helping one to forget one's worries, & discomforts for a bit! My chief cause for worry is the length of time I am being kept in England, & further length of time I am likely to be kept before making France, however I've got to go through with it, & fortunately one is kept busy, so that the weeks pass pretty quickly. The present outlook I may reach France for the winter campaign! We have now finished 3 weeks
