heard anything more of Ronald either which is strange, Was very surprised to hear that old Peachie is on his way back from the East Africa again, he is certainly a restless old bird. I hope the deuce I may run across him before long.

May 6th I did not quite finish my letter yesterday & since writing I have just met the paymaster of 1st Reserve Bn, he asked me if I was any relation to a Capt Gillespie who is paymaster in France & was surprised to hear that I was.

He saw Heb in France about 2 weeks ago & said he was looking very well. Which is good news to know. You will be amused to hear also that I met old "Shorty Pem" this morning , he was looking the same as ever but has not made France yet though he has reverted from Capt. to a Sub & has tried every means possible. He told me that he got all the Victoria news regularly from Ethel, so there must be something in it still!
