We were lucky to make out OK as we saw where a boat had been sunk about 12 hours before we passed the same spot, several lifeboats were floating about upside down & all kinds of wreckage. We saw the American troops disembarking, all kinds of them, they were certainly a fine looking bit of men & I bet will give a good account of themselves. Our quarantine here will soon lift. I have already applied for leave ,& expect to run up to Edinburgh to see the the T.P.s & see what can be done about Imperial Commission. The T.P.s are going up to [?] on 10th for a month, so I'll likely only see them for a day or so as I don't intend going up North. I would like to get a few days in London. I wish Florence or Steb were only on leave there as one could have quite a time .
