My dear Mother

Have just arrived at Ottawa. I waited up so as to be able to say I have been here! we got in 12 midnight and I am writing this to you in the station. Our journey is progressing favourably and I think we should get to Halifax on Monday. Hope we will be blessed with such fine weather on the boat! We have managed to get in on a good many short route marches on the way, which has helped to keep us all fit. I wired to Uncle Edward today saying I was proceeding to Halifax with draft for overseas and was sorry I could not see him, too bad I won't get a tip, but you can tell him when you're writing that I'll appreciate it just as much if he sends it to me!
