My dear Mother, White River, April 12, 1918

We have been running along the North Shore all today, Lakes still covered with very thick ice. Am very bored with all the scenery on this trip as I've seen too much of this line (?) before. The time is slipping by pretty quickly on the whole. I'm glad to say, we couldn't have had off a better time of year for crossing as far as train journey is concerned the weather still continues to be A ho(?). I took a few photos today also got someone to take a few for me. With my camera so that I figured in them, hope they will turn out all right will send them to you if any good! Did you know Corpl Billy Newcombe was on the draft. I invited him into our car this AM.
