decent of them all to come and see me off, Mrs. Pem gave me a sweet kiss, but I lost my chance with Armine my nerve gave out at the critical moment with Eric McCallum looking on, so I had to withdraw with only a handshake however I threw her several from the boat and had as many back in return! She presented me with a beautiful handkerchief with my name embroidered on it so with that and socks I did pretty well! Eric had better look sharp I'm thinking. I wish I'd had only as much nerve as the Bishop and I would have got in my kiss "God bless my soul"! However I'll be writing occasionally. Grace R was down at the boat looking very nice too.
