The bomb fell to the street & exploded. The Arch-duke and his wife fortunately escaped un-hurt , only to fall victims to a more successful attempt upon their lives within half an hour later. A young Servian sympathiser succeeded in shooting & mortally wounding both the Arch-duke & his wife, who died shortly afterwards in the hospital to which they had been driven.
