Somewhere in France September 30th/15

My dear Miss Russell, –

You have heard before this that we are in France somewhere. The censor is so strict that it is hard to know what to say. There is plenty of news but we have to keep it all to ourselves.

We have moved two or three times since coming over here. The first time into a small French town but mostly British or Canadian now. We stopped there a few days in billets. Our billet was in an old Dance Hall behind the Estaminet. We were told the Germans had put their horses in here when they passed through. The rows of
