I was Staff Captain Inte[?illegible] towards the last and had a taste of it all but nothing came up to [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] 3rd Battle at Ypres[?] for sheer hell and misery shelling and we were not nearly so well organized as we were at the Somme. We were much more efficient at the [illegible] work and[?] artillery quite different. One felt one was doing something and behind one the ground[?] we had won and we lived in deep dugouts[?] (at times)
