you talk about being snowed up, well I had a letter from home saying that they were in the same way, no mountains[?] could be used on the roads at all. I should love to be in the snow again. I have always wanted to try and ski, it seems so fascinating. Will you teach me if I can manage to come to B.C. after the war, it would be grand to do it together.

You seem to be having some trouble with the Huns in Canada, give them a rotten time when you get them. I do not seem to be able to work up a "hate" against the Americans in the same way as one does against the Germans. I would prefer to be in the Baltic for that reason. We have had some rotten luck out here with out boats; but hope for better. I will tell you if I manage to bring[?] any thing on this ship, I do not think it very likely as they chase us with aeroplanes and Torpedo boats and drop bombs that shake one up considerably. I had a lively twenty minutes under fire the other day, but managed to get away, it seems ignaminous and makes one angry, but it had to be done as I could not retaliate. There is something very fascinating in having splashes all round one and waiting for the shell to hit one, I am afraid that I lost my temper with them as I was not in the position to be able to hit back, but I hope to do so this trip.
