Mch 13. Beautiful day. Snow going fast. ln am walked down to river Elwy & took photos. In pm. to St Asaft with Lieut. McKenzie - looked over red stone cathedral (smallest in England). Country looking exquisite. Made acquaintance with Major J Stewart of CRT & found that he was intimate friend of Maj W Norman Maclean- just died.

14. After making a lot of fuss received movement order to sail by Royal George tomorrow.

15. March Saturday. Another great day the War for me. Joined Royal George with Maj Stewart & offrs & O.R.s at Liverpool about noon but did not actually start till 7 pm. Found onboard Capt & Mrs Bishop (Dorothy Davis). Major Rattray & [illegible] Gillespie. Quite calm, fine & cold. Steamer crowded. Empires in bad repair.

24. [illegible] - v. cold & dull with fog. Sighted Canada 4.30 pm. Maide Halifax hbr by 6.15 pm. Moore for night.

25. Bright & v. cold. Ice on deck. Carmania the heroine of great sea battle with Cap Trafalgar steamed out. Passed Olympic at her moorings (the steamer that took 88th to England & the ship of many adventures & harbnadth breaks)
