Feb. cliffs after other side of the river. Snow crisp & day exquisite. Made friends with the passeur d'eau who runs a ferry boat on a wire rope went into Namur with Maj. G. Birch (DADOS). Very cold again.

8. V. bright & beautiful - Duncan & I went to Durant 14 kilos to take photos - a great trip . A beautiful place [illegible] by the Boche who in Aug 1914 shot 650 men women & children besides destroying principal buildings & factories both in the town & near it. Saw the bullet splashes on the wall where 161 civilians were shot in the town near the Hotel de Nelo. Had a very slippery walk home along ten lovely [illegible]. Trees crackling in the frost. My papers for Canada came back from Bde & Bn app'd.

9. Sund. Padre Wells came back - Much ice in the river.

10. Had an excellent walk with "Rip" & another with Col. Coleman in pm. Came on a big park of Austrian & German guns of Hows 21 cm Guns 5.g. Ice forming strongly in the river & water falling fast - all 'illegible' opened.

11. A great daya. Left Profoudeville for Canada . Gen'l Burstall very kindly said he was indebted to me for my work. Everybody more than kind - A lovely day & much warmer though the river is
