Jan 27. Got my letters at last. Nell talks of sending Harry to Port Hope. Bad news from Hischauds. The papers for my recall to Canada arr'd.

29. Weather cold & dull. Sharp walks for an hour each day made me feel better & sleep better - Strikes all over the world. 3rdDiv start'd for England. I heard that Frank L. had been given C.B.

31. Still colder. Coal shortage getting serious - Snow falling again.

Feb 1. A daily walk for an hour with Rispin is a splendid set me up.

2. Sunday. Ch. Parade - Walk with "Rip" through the snow - It keeps s. misty.

3. Went to Mepion to FECM 6thBde . Dull cold & occasional snowfalls.

4. Saw a glint of blue sky for a moment.

5. Thaw - rain & snow. We all say this must be a delightful place in summer. Snow fell steadily.

6. Sun came out a little so tried a few exposures. Men fish steadily in the [illegible] whr it snows or not & catch poach wh. we eat.
