Jan. Snowing when we left Aacher & continuted till evening. Too dull for photos. Had tea at Maxines (cabaret) in Liege and paid 20 fcs for 3 cups of tea & a small cake or two. Stopped in at another cabaret & had three tiny whisky's & soda for fcs 19.50 - Diner more reasonable. Had a game of billiards at Le Phone - a funny place where a picture show billiards & cards were all going in the same room at the same time. A family resort - even including tiny children - Slept at Grand Hotel after leaving Duncan & Chown to their own devices and so ended a remarkable Continental Sunday.

27. Strted for Liege at 10.30 & reached HOY on the [illegible] at noon having followed the river up through continuous buildings, factories dirty street coal mines. At Huy the sun came out a little & I took some photos. A remarkable church, colours in tones of grey inside - columns of clean grey hard serbentine or [illegible] stone - Lunched at L'Aigle Noir - Later we went down to NAMUR & thence to Profoudeville - 8 kilo - Very cold bleak & fairly picturesque summer resort. - arr'd 4.30 pm after a very cold but interesting trip.
