Aug 8 Cont'd - Advance of Cdn & Austn v. rapid, about 11 or 12 miles before dark. Cav. a long way ahead. Captured trains with reinforcements. Armoured cars on Aust. front ditto. Tanks a great success both in fighting & in bringing in supplies and L.G. crews even ahead of retreating enemy. Good captures of guns & prisoners includg Brig Genl & staff . Evidently a surprise to the Boche. Good galloping country. No trenches or wire after the first but resistance made from skillfully concealed strong points in woods, along road & e. wonderful battle ground - 6th C& B came into action this evening on line of exploitation & advanced 29th & 31st Bns in front .

9. Weather yesterday & today - V. fine with some mist. Advance still progressing well. Cav. & tanks still working ahead. 4th Army have taken prisr 300 offrs & 13750 OR & many guns. Large numbers of [illegible] & T.Ms & quantities of war material

10. Still fine. Still advancing. Much activity in various places on allied front & all in favour of allies. BnCTB cas. fairly heavy esp. at Rosieres where Col Latta got bullets through both legs
