May 20 - After v hot day exceptionally beautiful evening v peaceful
21. Still hot - ECM Lt G Cruickshank MC defended. Severe reprimand.
22. Central [illegible] at Bellacourt Bn came out to Breheucourt. Full moon
23. Gale from SW - Air full of dust - much cooler
25. Bde sports at Bellacourt.Bn won tug of war as usual but had hard pull.
26. Sunday. Sun thro mist? Went to Doulleurs 3 CS to see Lt Thomas but found him gone. In the evening enemy shelled our village. One shell wh. dropped outside my door killed civilian there & gave me a very close call - Next shell killed [illegible] one of our coolis - decided to join Bridgeman & Nelson & o. in Crater [illegible]
27. Fine & hot. Prosecuted in P.O. Straling case. Difficult job. conviction - Bn went to front line
30. Went to [illegible] Bn ref. case & had lunch Col Ives, Capt Douglas Adjt (of Oak ?]. Beautiful day. Casual shelling all night of neighbourhood of Baillenlval. Sibbald [illegible]
