1918 Mch 23. Marched out at 9 am. I acted as Bn 2i/c. Reached Camblain l'Abbe at 1.30 pm. Very warm after frosty night. (At this time the Boche was driving in our line from Arras to 50 miles south & making great strides every day - Are losing many prisoners, tanks, railway stock & supplies).

Warm after frosty night - Met Capt Lance R Lemprier RAMC (old Haileybury chum & doctor) at 1st Army HQ on the way. Brian had left Corps on leave. Our plans changing every minute with development of enemy offensive. All kits cut down to [illegible] minimum but everyone cheerful.

24. In consequence of reductions of kits & the frost suffered a little from cold at night but day was fine & warm. Bright [illegible]. All news reports enemy successes. Situation getting exciting: Moved to Bois des Alleux.
