1918

Feb 28 - I turned over my duties as Asst Adj to Daniel and went on leave - arrg Boulogne about 8.45 pm.

Mch 1 - Very bad crossing. Sleet & storm. Arrd London about 3.30 pm. Saw "Lilac Domino" stopped at Russell Hotel.

2. Shopped. Called a SOA Cury St but Katie Spencer out - went down to Flexland in pm. Very warm welcome.

3. Sunday. To service & H.C. at Flexlands church. Called on Mrs. Savile & on Capt & Mrs. Roy also on Lydell, Savile & his wife at Scotts Grove.

4. To town & thence to Plymouth. Stopped at Grand Hotel - went to Keytrain Barracks & found that Hues Defender (Capt Ralph Roberts) had just sailed.

5. Fine with glimpses of sunshine. Train to Saltash & walked to Nice Castle. I had some tea with Edwin Deacon (blacksmith) & his wife at Louglands. Found that he has some of the original fire dogs from the Nice. The Castle falling into peak disrepair but
