Feb 2. I went out & Capt Meredith took my place. Bn relieved 27 in R. front avion.
3. Rec'd permission from G.O.C. Div. to assume rank of Capt. Walked into areas & back. Beautiful day - lunched at Hotel du Commerce. Had a splendid bath [illegible] & driver a Officer's Club (afterwards completely destroyed by Boche shells).
4. Prosecuted in 3 cases at [illegible]. at H. George
5. Joe & I walked to Camblain l'Abbe (Cdn Corps Hqrs).. Had tea at Club. Went to [illegible] of 16th. Dines with Brian Drake. Saw Sp du Pencier.
6. Fine & sunny
7. Bn went into support. Maj. Wilmot came out
8. Rode to Ecoivres with Maj Maclean on his way to 1st Army school& had lunch at another poor club.
9. I went in to relieve Maj Kirkland (Adj)
10. Went round front area.
11. Relieved 27th Bn in AVION right front.
13. Heavy strap on our front line & supports 6.30 am. to 8.15 am. North line destroyed. Cas 2k & 6 w.
