20 Sept At Bonneville 21 Sept " " went to St Ouen with bathing parade 22 Sept Glorious day. At 2:25 left Bonneville (many suffering from the hospitality of the good people of Bonneville) & marched to our old tent camp at Val de Maison 23 Sept Bn orderly officer. Marched at 850 am & reached Harponville beyond Courtray at 1 pm. (Passed PPCLI with their colours) 24 Sept Sunday. V. early start. Marched for four hours & halted for lunch near Brickfield. Evidently much vagueness about our orders & destination. In pm marched to sunken road near Contalmaison. v. hot - bivouaced in open but enemy shelling all just short of us 25 Sept Going over orders for attack tomorrow. C. Co would go on after Bn had taken trench in front of Courcellette & wd establish advance post 350 yds ahead - very little known about what we shall find there - Lt Everill, Harper & Tardife chosen for this work.
