Dec 13 Wed Rode to the Bethune with Capt Hunter - beautiful weather & very enjoyable day. Bn had practice Battle rendezvous.

15 Fri Went into the line again

17 Dec Sun Went out on leave. Having missed leave bus walked from Bracquencourt to Bethune 10 miles & dined most excellently at Leon d'Or. On going to station found leave cancelled for night so with [illegible] of Leicestershires went back to Leon d'Or for a bed. Glorious sleep.

18 Dec Mon Chocolate & rolls at 11am. Leave train left at nine night. Crossed by Boulogne to Folkestone after very cold & frosty train journey - Reached London about 2 pm. Shopped & banked. Dined at Cock Tavern - Saw Aida - Slept at Flexlands

20 Dec Wed To town - morn banks & shop. Lunched at Henrys (Cock Tavern) & took train to Slough to see Joan
