Thursd 13 July Hav'g shipped off our baggage to Lydd Howard Bridgman + I walked down there, lunching at Black Bull Newchurch gloriously. After a snooze under haystack walked on to New Romney where we has a good tea + then to Lydd to rejoin Bn. Padre took me into his tent.

Fri 14 July 3 am. To Lydd rainy. In pm did nothing. Howard + Horton warned.

Sat'd 15 July Howard + Horton left for Folkestone + went over the Channel. To the Ranges in the pm. Rec'd thro Paymaster cq bk + passbk B/M. Pall Mall show'g credit L16.8. q. Returned both to protest as to amt wh. shd. have been [$100?] for outfit + request for transfer of bal. to Union Bk of Can.
