could draw but one always gets into trouble trying to do anything of that sort here.

I am glad to hear that young Joe (son of Bob) Fall has grown into such a fine chap. Joe the elder apparently refused to revert to Lieut in order to come over here. Probably he did not realize how little rank is valued in the eyes of real soldiers unless it is earned at the front nor what a drawback to the officer itself it is come out with any higher rank than that of Lieut. Capt Scharff (of 88th & 62nd) who is with this Bn could say much about that. If he really wanted to get on he would have to revert now. Well I must trot along to bed now as it is past ten & we keep early hours. We are out training now & the conditions are quite pleasant.
