a W.D. branch on casualties but find time for an occasional dance or play. I tried to see BS Perrin but did not get so far as his place. Trains were very awkward + having lost a connection or two + not feeling well I went to my hotel for a rest. The luxury of that hotel was a real treat. I got a small room with a bath +c attached and revelled in the cleanness the excellent + convenient lighting and the ample opportunities for washing as often as I liked.

Everything cost more + my leave must have cost me L50 for which there is little to show now. However I assure you my turn out is quite smart now. As the Brigade Major said today a propos of impending inspection by Corps Commander "I want all the officers dressed up to the nines like Crease here"
