My dear brother

Your letter written at Christmas time has just arrived recording your feelings on the result of the Election and telling me the news of the family. A long and welcome letter from Fowkes came at the same time. It is of course most generous of you both to maintain my interest in the partnership in such a large fashion but I still do not regard it as fair in view of your heavy contributions of money + time to the war + increased cost of living. When I get my captain's pay I shall try + arranged to assign all the increase to Nell (NELL) for the children's education.

How to fit Harry for his struggle for a livelihood is indeed a difficult problem at this time. If he shows any proper desire to improve himself I should like to give him every opportunity for he will need it most. I wonder if he shows any spirit of adventure
