We used to think that our six inch gun made a good noise but when you find yourself in the midst of several batteries of heavies the top of your head seems to get partially fluid & to rise and fall with the concussions. It is still possible to sleep through it so long as one is really tired though of course one could not sleep for more than a few hours at a time.

It is not surprising that the tiles fly off the houses or that everything falls off the walls for the walls literally bulge in & out unless they are heavily constructed.

The German shells that come in are not half
