My dear brother

Is not your birthday on the 15th? Whenever it is I wish you many happy returns of the day, many years of usefulness with the satisfaction of knowing that they have been useful and have been appreciated. That day will be memorable to me also for additional reasons.

I am back with the Battn & shall resume my duties as Asst Adjt under Col. Ross who has taken over the command from Col. Tait. The work promises to be very interesting.

I am glad that you are taken some part in politics if only for the sake of having some decent men in the game

I saw Victor Eliot at Boulogne just returned from leave & looking very well.
