Co (Left Co) in which I became interested attacked on the left. It was rather a desperate piece of work but was carried out with extraordinary {dark?] & determination.

Of course there were many casualties for the artillery, M.G. rifle fire was hot. Quite early in the day & before the attack began I had 5 minutes notice to get up to the front line from where I am writing now & report.
