My dear brother
We begin another month under the old time so we are not saving any more daylight.
It seems almost incredible that that [sic] a humdrum lawyer like myself of 18 months [?] should be in the midst of such extraordinary activities as we have lately taken part in. We are out of the front line again after a really terrible experience. Many of us have gone on but the majority are still left.
Joe Bridgman who was in the thickest was untouched & [bore?] himself like a [fallout?] & seasoned warmaker. Though I was reported killed & my affects returned to base as such I am not even [sunk?] if I was touched by spent shrapnel.
These sparings seem incredible
