In these trenches one runs up against all kinds of fellows. Yesterday it was a chap called Farquhar who was with Anson at Quesnelle & afterward in Peace River - He had been in our office.

The German officers always seem to do themselves well - even in this new trench they had a deep dugout with mineral water & whiskey & boxes of cigars. Here come the shells again.

Many thanks for the [illegible] a/c of the Jutland battle & all the news. So Mrs. P & Joe gone.
