The news of Rumania coming in is great. We ought soon to cut the Constantinople Rlway wh. wd. be a really heavy blow to Germany. It may possibly mean the collapse of Austria before winter - This part of France has some fine forests & chateaux but it is hardly likely that there will be opportunity to do any exploring.

Certainly after an ordinary days work there is no inclination - what I have had has been mere child's play compared with what is coming but if I am spared for the next few weeks there should be a good chance of getting through - my very inexperience may save me for I am not fit to be trusted with really important work.

The GOC this Division is said to be an excellent man & it is likely that he will do his best to make a mark with this Divn wh. is a seasoned one - I see little of the other 88th officers in this Bn except Andrews who is in our Co. for the Cos are as separate in their work as different ships - By the way a Victoria boy called Braithwaite is my batman
