Dear Lindley

We are now about to make our last move before reaching the front. We are just waiting for the start to the point where [? ?] for transportation to our new Battalion the 29th - Thank goodness at his hour 8 p.m. it is much cooler though any exertion makes me sweat. Capt. McKenzie, Joe & I are the little group of 88th officers though there are many others from other units - We shall have many weary hours & probably days before we get to the front ending I expect with a considerable march from railhead - We leave behind here Gray, [Monkill?] & Day & Major Pym in hospital at Havre - The draft of men leaving at the same time have just been attending a service conducted by a very fine padre Capt Earp.
