had a letter from Uncle Gene the other day. He wrote from Buffalo, but doesn't say whether or not he is on the Octorara this year. He does say his eyes hardly trouble him now, after the operation, for which I am glad. It must have been hard for him to have ocular trouble when he used his eyes so much.He tells of a French pilot in Chicago giving exhibitions of "stunt" flying on a French scout called a "Spad". I wish you could see such an exhibition. It would give you some idea of a modern aeroplane and the things it can make to do. All your conception of high speed are scattered to the four winds. The other day I was chasing a Hun down to the ground, diving almost vertically and found myself doing nearly 200 miles per hour!
