Dearest Mother,

As you will no doubt see by the note paper I have got some leave at last and am able to do a thing or two I wanted in town here. I did not write you last Sunday as I had a forced landing through engine trouble some distance from the aerodrome early Sunday morning. I landed quite comfortably in a nice field but had to stay till Monday. On getting back I was told that my application for leave
