Statement of the Accused.

Ah Keung, Ah Kow & Wah Shue stand charged before the undersigned Police Magistrate one of her Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for the District or County aforesaid, this thirteenth day of October in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty four, for that the said Ah Keung, Ah Kow and Wah Shue did on Tuesday instant feloniously and unlawfully assault one Fong Wy with the intent thereby willfully, feloniously and of his malice aforethought to kill and murder him the said Fong Wy.

And the said charge being read to the said Ah Keung, Ah Kow and Wah Shue and the witnesses for the prosecution, Fay Wy, Ah Sing, Ah Lay and William Jackson, being severally examined in their presence, the said Ah Keung, Ah Kow and Wah Shue now addressed by me as follows:

"Having heard the evidence, do you wish to say anything in answer to the charge? You are not obliged to say anything, unless you desire to do so, but whatever you say will be taken down in writing, and may be given in evidence against you at the trial."

Where upon the said Ah Keung, Ah Kow and Wah Shue saith as follows:
