Q;- I understand the rods under the car were not disturbed at all ?A;-Yes. Q;-Referring to the rods runnin from the rear to the front ? A;- Yes, there's a rocker arm [?] Q;-In going over the bridge the first thing to be struck would be this rod ? A;-The cover above the rods and up higher. Q;-What size are these rods ? A;-Three-eigths by five-sixteenths Q;- If in backing off the bridge the edge of the bridge had bumped in falling the hind part of the car, wouldn't that make a mark on these emergency brakes ? A;- It was broke. Q:-Do you know the car when lifted hit on this rod ? A;-No. Q;-There was a rope under the car could that damage anything when they brought it up ? A;-No. Wouldn't that rod, the rod running up here wasn't it bent up? A;-About the only thing that I could see would be the pan, and the pan is a little more forward, and the rope would be a little forward of the pan. Q;-You examined this last Wednesday  ? Yes. Q;- As a matter of fact it was in high gear when you examined it ? A;- The gear and transmission never had been taken off. Q;-Would the weight or that car lifted for or fifty feet show any strain indicated to you ? A;-I could see no strain whatever. Q;-What effect would water have on the wheel, on the brake ? A;-Only effect on the footbrake might have been to tighten it. Q;-What would you say of a car having twelve people would have an effect on a quarter inch chain, in your opinion as a man dealing in weights, or power of resistance ? A;- I am no dealing in weights. I know it not. Q;-Why ? A:- A quarter inch chain would feel no resistance maybe the passengers might no feel it, but the driver would.
